Telugu Horror Film Jatadhara Bombs with Audiences: Netizens Call It ‘Unbearable’

Supernatural Thriller Starring Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha Fails to Impress

The new Telugu horror film, Jatadhara, directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, has hit theaters today but appears to have landed flat with audiences, according to scathing early reviews from netizens. The film, which attempts to merge mythology and horror, is set around the supernatural mysteries of the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple.

Jatadhara stars Sudheer Babu in the lead role, Shilpa Shirodkar in a key role, and features Sonakshi Sinha as the menacing antagonist, Dhanapisachini. However, viewers widely agree that the execution of this intriguing concept missed the mark entirely.

Social Media Slams Jatadhara as a ‘Painful Watch’

Viewers on X (formerly Twitter) were highly critical of the film’s execution, writing, and technical aspects:

  • Wasted Concept: One user lamented, “#Jatadhara: A strong mythological concept wasted by weak execution and sluggish narration that severely test your patience.”
  • Miserable Failure: Another reviewer called it an “UNBEARABLE” and “king-size disappointment that fails miserably in every aspect.”
  • Technical Flaws: Critics noted severe issues with production quality, claiming, “The visuals and special effects are ambitious but end up looking cheap and unnecessary due to poor execution.”
  • Overall Verdict: Comments ranged from “The film offers absolutely nothing worth discussing… no clue why this even got a theatrical release,” to “Not a single high moment in the whole movie.”

One highly critical review summed up the widespread sentiment, giving it a ½ rating and calling it “Easily among the weakest films of the year.”

Sudheer Babu’s Looks Not Enough to Save the Film

The criticisms were directed across the board, with many questioning the logic and coherence of the script. The few positive remarks were primarily aimed at the spiritual ambition of the project:

  • Positive Sparks: A handful of viewers appreciated the film’s devotional theme, with one noting, “Every frame of #Jatadhara seems crafted with profound respect. A distinct spiritual melody unfolds on screen.”
  • Sudheer Babu: The only element singled out for mild praise was the lead actor, with one tweet noting, “The only good thing in the film is #SudheerBabu’s looks.”

Overall, the audience consensus proves that even the most exciting concept cannot save a film when the execution, writing, and technical aspects fall short.
