Several prominent Telugu film actors, including Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR, and Allu Arjun, have strongly criticized Telangana Minister Konda Surekha’s comments linking the divorce of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR).
The actors expressed their disapproval via social media, sharing their posts with the hashtag #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate, calling out the dragging of personal lives into political discourse.
Chiranjeevi, in his post on X (formerly Twitter), expressed deep disappointment over the minister’s remarks. He emphasized that personal lives should not be used for scoring political points, particularly when it comes to unrelated individuals, and urged politicians to set better examples. Chiranjeevi also condemned the act of targeting film personalities for attention and criticized the baseless allegations made against them.
Jr NTR echoed these sentiments, describing the act of dragging personal lives into politics as a “new low.” He urged public figures, especially those in responsible positions, to maintain dignity and respect for privacy. Jr NTR expressed his frustration over careless statements that have the potential to harm individuals and emphasized that such actions should not become normalized.
Allu Arjun also condemned the minister’s derogatory remarks, calling them disrespectful and against the values of Telugu culture. He emphasized the importance of promoting respect and dignity within society and urged those involved to act more responsibly, especially towards women.
Other notable figures from the Telugu film industry, including Nani, Khushbu Sundar, and director Srikanth Odela, also voiced their strong opposition to the comments. They called out the irresponsibility of politicians making baseless claims and urged the public to stand against such actions.
The backlash comes after Konda Surekha made controversial statements, alleging that KTR played a role in Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce, further accusing him of tapping actors’ phones and blackmailing them. These comments sparked widespread criticism, with Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, also condemning the remarks. Samantha, for her part, issued a statement clarifying that her divorce was a personal matter and requested that her name not be dragged into political battles.
Following the uproar, Konda Surekha clarified her intent was not to hurt Samantha but to question KTR’s treatment of women, and she offered an unconditional retraction if her comments had caused any offense.
This widespread condemnation from the film fraternity highlights the industry’s unified stance against the use of personal lives in political mudslinging.
