Thalapathy Vijay’s Fan Breaks Silence After Bodyguard Allegedly Points Gun at His Head

May 6, 2025: A controversy erupted after a video from Madurai airport went viral, showing a member of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s security detail allegedly pointing a gun at a fan during a chaotic moment. The incident occurred on May 5, shortly after Vijay — the leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) — arrived at the airport, drawing widespread attention and triggering debate over security protocols.

In the widely circulated footage, a fan is seen breaking through the protective ring around Vijay, attempting to get closer to him. Amid the confusion, a security guard is captured on camera seemingly aiming a firearm at the fan’s head — an image that alarmed many viewers and ignited criticism online.

However, sources from Vijay’s security team quickly responded, stating that the situation was misinterpreted. According to the clarification, the guard had just exited the vehicle and was attempting to secure his weapon when the fan’s sudden movement startled him. “The gun was being swirled away from the fan’s body in an attempt to de-escalate,” the source explained, emphasizing there was no intention to threaten or harm the individual.

The fan, identified as Inbaraj, also addressed the matter. “I agree I shouldn’t have jumped the circle,” he said. “But while I was being pulled away, I didn’t see any gun at all.” His statement appears to support the guard’s explanation and has helped reduce tensions somewhat.

Despite the clarification, the incident has raised serious concerns about the handling of firearms in public spaces and the appropriate response by armed security personnel in high-pressure situations involving celebrities.
