May 14, 2025: Sanjay Dutt and Mouni Roy’s horror-comedy The Bhootnii continues its underwhelming run at the box office. On Day 12, the film managed to earn just ₹50 lakhs, marking a 24% drop from its ₹66 lakhs collection on the previous day. The film’s total India net stands at ₹10.1 crores, a disappointing number considering its cast and genre appeal.

Despite early curiosity around its supernatural theme, The Bhootnii has failed to connect with either critics or audiences. Negative reviews and strong competition from other releases like Jaat, Kesari Chapter 2, Raid 2, Hit: The Third Case, and Marvel’s Thunderbolts* have further contributed to its fading presence in theatres.

About the Film
Directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, The Bhootnii features Sanjay Dutt as a quirky ghost hunter named Baba and Mouni Roy as Mohabbat, a spirit that haunts a college tree and appears every Valentine’s Day. The film also stars Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, and Aasif Khan in prominent roles. The story revolves around Mohabbat’s obsession with a student named Shantanu, leading to chaos until Baba intervenes.
While the film attempted to blend horror with comedy and romance, poor writing and execution seem to have derailed its box office potential. With earnings now slowing down sharply, the film is unlikely to see a significant revival in the coming days.
