‘The Bhootnii’ Box Office Day 4: Sanjay Dutt’s Horror-Comedy Earns ₹3.19 Crore in Opening Weekend
May 4, 2025: New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt’s latest venture, The Bhootnii, may not be lighting up the box office, but it’s still managing to find its audience. The horror-comedy, directed by Siddhant Sachdev, has earned an estimated ₹3.19 crore across its four-day opening weekend since its release on May 1, 2025.
The film opened with ₹0.65 crore on Thursday (Day 1) and saw slight dips on Day 2 (₹0.62 crore) and Day 3 (₹0.86 crore). However, Day 4 (Sunday) brought in a noticeable jump to ₹1.06 crore, suggesting weekend footfalls may have improved due to curiosity and low expectations.

The Bhootnii faced stiff competition at the box office, clashing with Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh’s action-packed Raid 2, which has dominated ticket sales with a far stronger opening and higher occupancy.
Despite this, the makers of The Bhootnii remain optimistic. Co-producer Deepak Mukut recently urged cinema chains for additional screens, citing “positive word of mouth” and a desire for “equal treatment” for all films.
“Just like Baba [Sanjay Dutt] said, everyone deserves a fair chance. We are hopeful for more shows in the coming days,” Mukut told reporters.
The Bhootnii is a horror-comedy featuring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh, and Palak Tiwari, and was produced by Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt. Initially slated for an April 18 release, the film was postponed due to VFX delays.
The film has received mixed to negative reviews, with News18 Showsha rating it 2 stars, criticizing its weak horror elements and inconsistent tone. “Feel free to give this film a miss,” the review read bluntly, suggesting Dutt’s past classics like Munna Bhai MBBS would make for a better weekend watch.
