20th Century Studios dropped the first teaser for the highly anticipated sequel on Anne Hathaway’s 43rd birthday, offering a tantalizing glimpse of Meryl Streep and Hathaway’s iconic characters’ reunion nearly 20 years later.

November 13, 2025: The fashion world is once again bracing itself for the return of the ice queen: Miranda Priestly. The official teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been released, confirming the return of the entire beloved core cast and setting the stage for a new battle in the rapidly changing world of high fashion.

The less than one-minute teaser, shared by 20th Century Studios, immediately established the sequel’s stylish tone. It begins with the familiar sound of high heels clicking through the busy Runway office, belonging to Meryl Streep‘s imperious Editor-in-Chief, Miranda Priestly.

‘Took You Long Enough’

The clip culminates in the moment fans have waited nearly two decades for: Miranda steps into an office lift, and just before the doors close, Anne Hathaway’s Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs steps in, greeting her former boss with a warm smile, “Miranda.”

In a hint of major character development, Miranda subtly shifts to the side to make space for Andy before delivering the only line of dialogue in the clip: “Took you long enough.” The teaser ends with Andy smiling, wearing a sleek pair of sunglasses as the lift doors close.

Hathaway, who shared the teaser on her 43rd birthday with the caption “It’s everyone’s birthday. #43 #DWP2,” immediately saw the video ignite a firestorm of excitement on social media.

Plot, Cast, and Release

The sequel reunites the original quartet: Meryl Streep (Miranda Priestly), Anne Hathaway (Andy Sachs), Emily Blunt (Emily Charlton), and Stanley Tucci (Nigel Kipling).

The Devil Wears Prada 2, directed once again by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, is set years after the original. The plot will reportedly focus on Miranda’s struggle to maintain Runway’s influence amid the decline of print journalism, with her toughest rival being her former assistant, Emily Charlton (Blunt), who has risen to become a powerful executive at a luxury fashion group controlling crucial advertising revenue.

The film’s expanded ensemble cast includes several high-profile additions:

  • Lady Gaga (in a key, though currently undisclosed, role)
  • Lucy Liu
  • Justin Theroux
  • Kenneth Branagh (as Miranda’s new husband)
  • Bridgerton star Simone Ashley

The Disney sequel, which began filming in June, is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
