The Diplomat Box Office Prediction: John Abraham’s Action Thriller Set for a Slow Start

Despite a Holi Release, The Diplomat Likely to Open Below ₹3 Crore on Day 1

March 14, 2025

John Abraham’s much-anticipated action drama, The Diplomat, hits theaters today (March 14), but early predictions suggest a disappointing opening at the box office. Despite releasing on the festive occasion of Holi, the film has struggled to generate significant buzz, primarily due to low-key promotions.

A Slow Start at the Box Office?

Trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal predicts that The Diplomat could earn between ₹2 crore and ₹3 crore on its opening day—numbers that are far below expectations for an action-packed John Abraham film.

“I see the film earning between ₹2 crore and ₹3 crore on the first day. This is nothing but a disastrous figure”

If this holds true, The Diplomat may fail to surpass the opening day earnings of John Abraham’s previous film, Vedaa, which collected ₹6.5 crore despite facing competition from Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein.

Will Word-of-Mouth Help The Diplomat?

Given the subdued promotional campaign, The Diplomat will need strong word-of-mouth reviews to gain traction over the weekend. If audience response is positive, the film could pick up momentum, but the current projections don’t look promising.

About The Diplomat

Directed by Shivam Nair (Naam Shabana, Maharathi), The Diplomat is an action drama that follows a high-stakes mission at an embassy, where the protagonist faces several challenges when a woman seeking refuge arrives at the consulate.

The film stars:
John Abraham
Sadia Khateeb
Kumud Mishra
Sharib Hashmi

Final Verdict: Can John Abraham’s Film Defy Expectations?

With an underwhelming start predicted, The Diplomat will need a strong weekend surge to sustain at the box office. Will Holi celebrations give it a boost, or will it struggle to find an audience? Only time will tell.
