‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’: Netflix Confirms Season Wrap, Not Series Cancellation

The media reports of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ exiting Netflix due to poor ratings has turned out to be untrue.

In a recent post on Instagram, Archna Puran Singh, posted this fun video to counter the rumours doing the rounds.

The confusion, about the early exit of the Kapil Show from the OTT platform was also brought about Archana insta post that stated, ‘It’s a wrap’.

Clarifying on this piece of news, Netflix officials said that it was a shoot wrap for season-1 and not a series wrap as understood by various news agencies and fans.

The show has some of the industry’s stalwart comedians including Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Rajiv Thakur.

‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ premiered on Netflix on March 30 this year, with a blockbuster first episode with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as guests.

It was cricketers Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer in Episode#2.

Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra graced the show’s third episode to promote their film, Amar Singh Chamkila also premiering on Netflix. They were also joined by the director of their movie, Imtiaz Ali.

The fourth episode had actor brothers Vicky and Sunny Kaushal.

Episode-5 was a coup of sorts, with Aamir Khan as the guest. For the uninitiated, Aamir’s ex-wife’s film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ also recently premiered on Netflix.

The sixth one was a fun filled episode with superstar brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol.

The upcoming episode will feature the star cast of ‘Heeramandi’ including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sharmin Segal . The promo for the same was dropped by the platform on Wednesday.

While there is no official confirmation on the second season of ‘Great Indian Kapil Show’, comedian Kiku Sharda revealed that the shooting has stopped “temporarily” and the show will return for another season.

“We have done 13 episodes, and the second season will come out soon. We just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the next season and it will come out soon. There won’t be a huge gap,” Kiku Sharda said to a news channel.
