Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster The Odyssey continues its impressive box office journey, inching closer to the ₹100 crore milestone in India while outperforming the director’s Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer at the same stage of its theatrical run. Starring Matt Damon in the lead role, the epic has maintained strong momentum both domestically and internationally despite the typical weekday slowdown.
According to early box office estimates, The Odyssey collected ₹6.15 crore on its seventh day in India, taking its total domestic earnings to ₹90.30 crore. With the film showing a steady hold at the box office, trade analysts expect it to cross the coveted ₹100 crore mark within its first week, making it Christopher Nolan’s second film after Oppenheimer to achieve the milestone in India.
If the film reaches the landmark, it will also become one of the select Hollywood films to enter India’s prestigious ₹100 crore club, further cementing Nolan’s popularity among Indian audiences.
Internationally, The Odyssey has delivered equally remarkable numbers. In North America, the film earned $18.05 million (approximately ₹157 crore) on Wednesday, registering only a 16% decline from Tuesday’s collections. The sixth-day performance marks the second-highest Wednesday of Nolan’s career at the domestic box office, trailing only The Dark Knight (2008), while comfortably surpassing The Dark Knight Rises.
The film’s six-day North American total now stands at $181.6 million (approximately ₹1,580 crore), with industry estimates predicting a second-weekend collection between $61 million and $74 million. If these projections hold, The Odyssey could rival or even surpass the second-weekend performances of both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, further strengthening its record-breaking run.
The latest figures also highlight how significantly The Odyssey is outperforming Oppenheimer. Nolan’s 2023 blockbuster had earned $117.8 million after six days in North America, while The Odyssey has already reached $181.6 million, performing roughly 54% better at the same point in its release. Oppenheimer eventually concluded its North American run with an impressive $330 million, a benchmark that The Odyssey now appears well-positioned to challenge.
