July 4, 2025: The Old Guard 2 is back with a vengeance — more action, deeper betrayals, and a major cliffhanger that’s left fans begging for a third installment. In this high-stakes sequel to Netflix’s 2020 hit, the immortal warrior group led by Andy (Charlize Theron) faces an unexpected threat: one of their own.

Enter Discord (Uma Thurman) — the first immortal and now the greatest threat. Her partner-in-chaos? Quynh (Van Veronica Ngo), who was once lost to the ocean, punished to drown eternally, and is now back with a vengeance of her own.

Discord saves Quynh after 500 years, only to manipulate her into turning against Andy’s group. But Discord’s motives aren’t just about ideology — she’s lost her immortality and is desperate to steal it back. Her twisted plan? Capture the immortals and force Nile (KiKi Layne) — who can wound and remove immortality — to transfer their powers to her.
The film’s climax takes us into a nuclear facility, where Discord and Quynh attempt to trigger a radioactive bomb. Andy and her team intervene, knowing it might be a trap. The result? An ambush. Everyone except Andy and Quynh is captured.
During a fierce swordfight between Andy and Discord, Andy notices something shocking — Discord’s wounds aren’t healing. That’s when the truth drops: Discord is no longer immortal. Her entire plan hinges on forcing Nile to strip the others of their powers and giving them to her.
Meanwhile, Quynh becomes mortal after Nile stabs her in the chaos. Realizing she’s been used, Quynh confronts Discord, who then abandons her. Later, Quynh and Andy reunite at the secret immortal library. They resolve their differences and vow to rescue the captured team.
The emotional gut punch comes from Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts). Longing for mortality, he asks Nile to slash him, becoming mortal and secretly transferring his immortality to Andy. In a heroic moment, he sacrifices himself during the facility ambush, dying in battle to protect the team.
The film ends with Discord escaping in a helicopter with the rest of the immortals — Nicky, Joe, Tuah, and Nile — leaving Andy and Quynh behind and determined to fight back.
While fans are eager for answers, Netflix has not yet confirmed The Old Guard 3. Creator Greg Rucka always envisioned the story as a trilogy, and though director Victoria Mahoney stepped away after the sequel, she voiced hope for the series’ continuation.
So, will immortality change hands again? Will Discord succeed? And will the team reunite? The battle is far from over — but for now, fans must wait.
