'The Running Man': Katy O' Brian joins Glen Powell in Paramount's remake
Katy O’Brian is set to star alongside Glen Powell in the upcoming remake of The Running Man, directed by Edgar Wright.
This remake, based on Stephen King’s novel (originally published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman), brings new energy to the dystopian thriller. The story follows a falsely accused man competing in a deadly TV game show where prisoners fight for their survival, promising a tense, action-packed narrative.
Wright, known for his unique directorial style, is co-writing the script with Michael Bacall and will produce the film alongside Simon Kinberg and Nira Park. The original 1987 adaptation, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, became a cult classic, and this reboot aims to revitalize that legacy. Set to release on November 21, 2025, just before Thanksgiving, it will compete with Wicked: Part Two.
With a strong creative team and the intense, futuristic story, this remake has the potential to captivate both new and nostalgic audiences. O’Brian’s involvement, fresh from roles in Love Lies Bleeding and Mission: Impossible 8, further boosts anticipation for the film.
