In another apologetic post, Rockstar Games announced the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 release has been delayed by six months, shifting the launch from May 2026 to November 19, 2026, to ensure the game meets the expected “level of polish.”

November 7, 2025: Eager gamers across the globe will have to wait a little longer for the next installment of the crime saga. Rockstar Games, the developer behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, confirmed this week that the highly anticipated GTA 6 has been hit with another major delay.

The release date, which was already pushed from a promised late-2025 launch to May 2026, has now been moved back by an additional six months to Thursday, November 19, 2026.

Rockstar Cites Need for ‘Polish’

The news was confirmed via an apologetic post from Rockstar Games on its social media channels on Thursday. The developer emphasized that the decision was made to ensure the game lives up to the immense hype and legacy of the series.

Rockstar Games (Statement): “Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

The game is expected to be one of the most ambitious games ever made, featuring a massive open world set in the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to the modern-day Vice City. It will feature two protagonists, including the franchise’s first female lead, Lucia.

Global Launch and Price Outlook

The new November 2026 date is expected to align the global release, including in India. However, the extended development time is leading to expectations of a higher price point for the game.

  • Platform: GTA 6 will initially launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version is anticipated at a later date, consistent with Rockstar’s past release patterns.
  • Price Forecast: The basic edition is expected to cost around ₹5,999 in India (approximately $70 in the USA), with special variants possibly costing up to ₹7,299 or $100, though official details have not yet been verified.

Despite the frustration from the decade-long wait since GTA 5‘s original release, industry analysts are confident that the game’s scale will trigger high demand and be one of the biggest entertainment launches in history.
