This Is Why Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry’s Romance Fizzles Out

The rumored relationship between the former Canadian prime minister and the pop star has reportedly cooled off just weeks after a viral dinner date.

August 20, 2025: There were rumors that pop diva Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau were dating, but it seems that the relationship never really got off the ground. The Daily Mail and Page Six say that the new couple’s romance lost its spark since they were both very busy and Trudeau didn’t like being in the public eye as much as dating a global celebrity.

Last month, people started talking about the two of them when they were seen having a “intimate” supper in Montreal. The outing, which was followed by Trudeau going to her “Lifetimes Tour” concert, soon went viral and led to a lot of talk about a new power couple. Sources told PEOPLE at the time that the two had a “instant connection,” but they also warned that their relationship was still in its “early stages.”

But a fresh report says that their communication has “waned in the past two weeks,” which is a big change from July when they were supposedly texting “nonstop.”

A source told the Daily Mail that Trudeau was “not ready” for how much attention their first date got. “I know for sure that Justin wasn’t happy about the pictures getting out,” the person claimed. “It was the first date!” And then these images came out, and it became a big deal, which he doesn’t appear to have wanted.

The faded romance also happens at a time when both people are going through big changes in their lives. Trudeau, who is 53 years old, divorced his wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. Perry, 40, and actor Orlando Bloom, on the other hand, declared their split in June of this year after being together for almost ten years. A source said that Perry isn’t ready to start dating right now because she’s focused on getting better.

Perry and Trudeau have not yet made an official public comment about the issue.
