Thug Life Box Office Collection Day 16: Kamal Haasan's Film Crashes Below Expectations Struggles to Cross ₹100 Cr.

Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated collaboration is nearing the end of its theatrical run, and despite a mild third weekend push, the film saw a steep decline in earnings. With a global gross of only ₹97.87 crore by day 16, the film is now far from achieving break-even and is set to end as a box office flop.
On Saturday, the film collected just ₹6 lakhs in India—a massive 83% drop from earlier days. The domestic net total stands at ₹48.03 crore, while the gross collection from India is ₹56.67 crore. Considering the massive ₹200 crore budget, Thug Life has recovered just 24% of its cost after more than two weeks.

With overseas markets contributing ₹41.20 crore, the film’s worldwide total stands at ₹97.87 crore. While fans had hoped the third weekend would push it over the ₹100 crore mark, current trends suggest it will fall short. The disappointment is especially sharp given the high-profile collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam.

Even Kamal Haasan’s last underperformer, Indian 2, grossed ₹150.94 crore worldwide. For Thug Life to match that, it would require a nearly 54% jump—an unlikely feat at this point. Barring a miracle, Thug Life will finish well below Indian 2, compounding the blow to the actor-director duo.
The dismal performance of Thug Life has come as a shock to many, considering the star power and legendary director involved. With its failure to breach even the ₹100 crore mark, the film joins the list of high-profile misfires of 2025. All eyes now turn to Kamal Haasan’s next project, which fans hope will bring him back to the box office elite.
