Thunderbolts India Box Office Collection Day 4: Marvel’s Antihero Ensemble Ends Weekend with Rs 14.20 Crore
May 5, 2025: Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts has had an underwhelming debut weekend at the Indian box office, collecting Rs 4.20 crore on Sunday, and bringing its four-day total to Rs 14.20 crore. The Florence Pugh-led antihero saga failed to spark major interest among Indian moviegoers, especially amid stiff competition from big-ticket Indian releases.
Despite its global Marvel branding, Thunderbolts faced multiple challenges in India. It was released on May 1, alongside Raid 2, HIT: The Third Case, and Retro. Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 in particular has dominated multiplexes and screens, limiting the reach of Thunderbolts—especially in the Hindi-speaking belt.
Industry analysts believe the film’s modest cast recognition among Indian audiences (compared to MCU mainstays like Iron Man or Spider-Man) and low pre-release buzz have hampered its initial run.
With the film set to cross the Rs 15 crore mark on Monday, its long-term performance will depend on how well it holds during the weekdays. Trade insiders expect the film to end its India run between Rs 22–28 crore, barring any surprise upswing.
Thunderbolts stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus and features an unconventional team of Marvel antiheroes embarking on a dangerous black-ops mission. Directed by Jake Schreier, the film is part of MCU’s Phase 6 rollout.
