Thunderbolts India Box Office Day 3: Marvel Film Nets ₹10 Crore, Struggles Without A-List Avengers
May 4, 2025: Marvel Studios’ latest release Thunderbolts is witnessing a restrained run at the Indian box office. After debuting to ₹3.75 crore on Day 1 (May 1), the film dipped to ₹2.25 crore on Day 2, before slightly recovering with ₹4 crore on Day 3, bringing its total to ₹10 crore for the opening weekend.
The film features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, alongside Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, and Olga Kurylenko. Despite its ensemble cast, the absence of marquee names like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, or Tom Holland appears to have impacted footfall in Indian cinemas.

Industry experts suggest that Indian audiences are becoming more selective with MCU offerings, especially when films feature lesser-known or side characters from the franchise. Earlier this year, Captain America: Brave New World also faced a tepid response.

Additionally, Indian cinephiles appear to be gravitating toward content-heavy blockbusters from directors like Christopher Nolan and James Cameron, as evidenced by the strong response to the Interstellar re-release earlier this year.
Still, with positive international reviews and potential word-of-mouth traction, Thunderbolts may stabilize in its second week — though it’s unlikely to match the massive numbers seen by earlier Marvel hits like Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man: No Way Home.
