TikTok Influencer Valeria Marquez Killed During Livestream in Mexico at Age 23

Authorities are investigating the murder as a suspected femicide amid rising violence against women in Mexico

May 17, 2025 | Zapopan, Mexico — In a deeply disturbing incident, 23-year-old TikTok beauty influencer Valeria Marquez was murdered while livestreaming from her salon in Jalisco’s Zapopan municipality. The shocking crime, partially witnessed by her 100,000 followers, is now under investigation as a suspected femicide.

📹 Murder During Livestream

Valeria was interacting with fans during a TikTok live session on Wednesday when an unidentified man arrived at her door and handed her a small package. According to reports, she jokingly referred to the package contents as a “little piglet” — moments before the broadcast took a gruesome turn.

Within minutes, Marquez was seen slumped over, blood visible on camera. The livestream abruptly ended when someone off-camera picked up the phone.


🔍 Investigation Underway

A spokesperson for the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the suspect had arrived at the salon earlier in the day, asking for Marquez by name. He returned later and carried out the attack. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity but confirmed that the individual does not have ties to organized crime or cartel activity.

The case is being treated as a suspected femicide — a term used to describe the gender-based killing of women or girls.


⚠️ Growing Femicide Crisis in Mexico

Valeria Marquez’s tragic death highlights the growing epidemic of violence against women in Mexico. In 2023 alone, Mexico recorded 847 femicide cases, with 162 already reported in the first quarter of 2025.

Just last week, a female mayoral candidate was shot during her own livestream — her death is also under investigation as a potential femicide.

According to the Mexican government, nearly one in four murders of women is classified as femicide, with cases reported in all 32 states.

Valeria Marquez had gained a strong following on social media for her beauty tutorials, relatable content, and personal charm. Her fans and the wider influencer community are mourning the senseless loss of a young, rising talent.
