January 11, 2025: Actor Timothée Chalamet is set to make history by becoming the host and musical guest on the upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) on January 25. This marks a rare and significant achievement, as Chalamet becomes only the fifth non-musician in the show's 50-year history to take on both roles.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Chalamet will join an elite group of SNL hosts who have also served as musical guests, including icons like Paul Simon, Ray Charles, Elton John, and Britney Spears. What makes Chalamet's achievement even more remarkable is that, unlike his predecessors, he is not primarily known for his singing or musical talent. The last time a non-singer held both positions was in 1995, when NFL star Deion Sanders did so.
On the work front, Chalamet is drawing attention for his role in A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic in which he performs several of Dylan's iconic songs. Additionally, Chalamet is in the midst of a potential Oscar campaign, with the nominations set to be announced on January 17. He is considered a leading contender for the Best Actor award. If he wins, he would make history as the youngest actor ever to receive the honor, surpassing Adrien Brody, who won at 29 for The Pianist in 2003.
