August 14, 2025: A24 has put out the first teaser for its highly anticipated sports drama, Marty Supreme, which stars Timothée Chalamet. Josh Safdie directed the movie, which is a made-up story based on the life of table tennis champion Marty Reisman.
The teaser that came out on Wednesday shows a little bit of Chalamet’s character, Marty Mauser, a charming ping-pong player who wants to be famous and respected. The video is set in the 1950s and shows Marty dealing with the ups and downs of his career while also being in a relationship with the dazzling movie star Carol Dunne, played by Gwyneth Paltrow.
This is Josh Safdie’s first solo feature picture since 2008 and his first time directing since he and his brother Benny Safdie worked on Uncut Gems in 2019. Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein wrote the script together.
The movie also stars Fran Drescher, Tyler, the Creator, Penn Jillette, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, and Abel Ferrara, in addition to Chalamet and Paltrow. The official summary says that the movie is about a young guy who “goes to hell and back in search of greatness.”
