Together: Dave Franco, Alison Brie Body Horror Film Gets a New Trailer

Premiered at Sundance to strong reviews, Michael Shanks’ debut film ‘Together’ blends psychological tension, supernatural horror, and visceral body horror, starring real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie. The theatrical release is set for July 30.

July-8, 2025: Neon has unveiled a chilling new trailer for the upcoming body horror film Together, starring real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie. Slated for a theatrical release on July 30, the film has already turned heads after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where JoBlo critic Chris Bumbray praised it with an 8/10 rating, calling it “a blast for horror fans.”

Directed and written by Michael Shanks — not to be confused with the Stargate SG-1 actor — Together is a disturbing and stylized plunge into emotional and physical transformation. The story follows Tim and Millie, a couple attempting to reset their lives in the countryside. But what begins as an uneasy retreat turns grotesque after a supernatural encounter leads to a terrifying metamorphosis of their love, lives, and flesh.

Franco and Brie, who previously collaborated on films like The Rental, lead a cast that includes Damon Herriman, Sunny S. Walia, Jack Kenny, Mia Morrissey, Tom Considine, Karl Richmond, and several rising stars. The eerie rural setting and visceral themes evoke the tone of classic ‘80s horror — fast-paced, stylish, and unsettling.

Produced by Picturestart’s Erik Feig, Tango’s Lia Burman, along with Franco, Brie, Mike Cowan, and Andrew Mittman, Together has been rated R for violent/disturbing content, sexual content, graphic nudity, language, and brief drug content.

In his review, Bumbray described the film’s “electric energy” and likened it to the best of 1980s horror cinema. He added that the film’s pacing and tone give it a unique edge in today’s horror landscape, which too often plays it safe.
