Tom Cruise So Exhausted by ‘Mission: Impossible’ Stunt He Had to Be Carried Off the Plane

May 25, 2025: Even for Hollywood’s ultimate action star, some stunts push the limits. Tom Cruise was reportedly so worn out from filming a daring sequence for Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning that his crew had to physically carry him off a plane.

In an interview with The Times of London, longtime stunt coordinator and second unit director Wade Eastwood revealed that Cruise, 61, was left “absolutely exhausted” after performing one of the franchise’s most intense stunts—walking on the wing of a flying biplane.

“It beat the hell out of him,” Eastwood said. “The wind hitting him, the blast from the propeller, and flying all day—it was the hardest workout you could ever do. Many times, we were carrying him off the wing because he was so tired.”

Despite the physical toll, Cruise’s signature determination never wavered. “Tom doesn’t show fear, Tom shows competence,” Eastwood added. “Even when exhausted, he smiles and genuinely enjoys it.”

Eastwood, who has worked with Cruise since Edge of Tomorrow in 2013 and has overseen stunts on the last four Mission: Impossible films, cited another jaw-dropping moment from Dead Reckoning Part One, where Cruise rides a motorcycle off a cliff before base jumping. To prepare, Cruise completed over 500 skydives and 13,000 motocross jumps.

As for slowing down? Not a chance. “He’s a machine,” Eastwood said. “He acts like a 20-year-old. No magic—just relentless discipline, training, and nutrition.”

Cruise’s commitment to his craft continues to define his legacy, with Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning expected to push the boundaries of action filmmaking once again.
