June 27, 2025: Chet Hanks, son of Hollywood icon Tom Hanks, is carving out his own path in the music world—and recently did so with a heartfelt nod to his dad’s legendary role. On a recent appearance on the TODAY show, Chet revealed how grateful he was to collaborate with his father on the music video for his new single, You Better Run, which creatively pays homage to the beloved film Forrest Gump.

The 34-year-old artist, who also goes by his rap name Chet Hanx, is now part of the country duo Something Out West, alongside longtime friend Drew Arthur. Their latest release blends classic country storytelling with modern influences, marking a departure from Chet’s earlier rap career and reflecting his personal journey through sobriety.
The music video went viral in March when Tom Hanks made a surprise appearance, sitting on the iconic bench alongside Chet, who channels the Forrest Gump character complete with a shrimping boat named Jenny. The father-son reunion delighted fans and added a deeply personal touch to the project.

Chet joked about his dad’s laid-back nature during the TODAY interview, calling him “the most easygoing dude ever,” dispelling any rumors of Hollywood diva behavior. The video ends with a warm embrace between the two, symbolizing their close bond both on and off screen.
Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate the collaboration. One Instagram user wrote, “Got pops in the vibe 🔥😎,” while another praised the song and video for their heartfelt success.
Looking ahead, Chet and Drew plan to tour with their EP Leaving Hollywood, eager to share their music and stories with a wider audience.
