Tom Hardy Admits His Body Is “Falling to Bits” After Years of Grueling Action Roles

May 14, 2025: Tom Hardy, the powerhouse behind some of cinema’s most intense action roles, has opened up about the physical toll his career has taken on his body. From Bane in The Dark Knight Rises to Max Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road, Hardy has consistently pushed his body to the limit — but now he’s feeling the consequences.

Speaking to People, Hardy reflected on his role as Eddie Brock in the Venom series.“I loved playing Eddie in Venom. Juggling chainsaws… Put me on a unicycle and throw everything at me!” he said. “I was just really trying to push myself as much as I could.” But the 46-year-old actor revealed the cost of such dedication. “I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, I’ve got sciatica as well,” he admitted. “And plantar fasciitis — where did that come from? And why? I pulled a tendon in my hip too. It’s like, it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”Despite the wear and tear, Hardy isn’t slowing down. He currently stars alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren in the gritty crime series MobLand, and his recent action film Havoc premiered on Netflix in April.

As for his iconic role in the Venom franchise, the end may be near. In an October 2024 interview, Hardy and director Kelly Marcel confirmed that Venom: The Last Dance would be the final chapter in the trilogy.“We knew it would be three,” Marcel stated. “We knew it was a trilogy and we knew it would end like this from the beginning.” Though Hardy is set to bid farewell to Venom, he still dreams of a face-off that fans have long desired — Venom versus Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.“That’s way beyond my control,” Hardy said. “I’d love to do that, but that’s not even a conversation to have at my level — I’m just an actor in that world.”Even as his body protests, Hardy’s passion for action and storytelling remains as fierce as ever.
