Tom Holland Spills The Beans About Spider-Man 4, Says “It Lit A Fire In Me”

October 19, 2024: Tom Holland has given Spider-Man fans something exciting to look forward to, offering fresh details about the development of Spider-Man 4.

In an interview ,Holland revealed that both he and Zendaya are enthusiastic about the new script, describing it as “excellent” despite needing some additional work.

According to Holland, the writing team is making impressive progress on the draft, and his first read-through a few weeks ago reignited his passion for the project.

Reflecting on his and Zendaya’s reaction to the script, Holland shared that the couple had a shared moment of excitement. “We were bouncing around the living room, like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect,'” he recounted, illustrating their genuine enthusiasm. Both actors, who have worked closely on the Spider-Man trilogy under Jon Watts, are thrilled to continue the journey together.

Despite this excitement, Holland emphasized that there are still challenges ahead. “There’s a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going, but it’s exciting,” he explained, noting that the project isn’t yet ready to enter production.

Holland also highlighted the importance of syncing the next Spider-Man film within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). “With Marvel, your film is a small cog in a large machine… You have to make sure you can fit into that timeline at the right time to benefit the bigger picture,” he said, acknowledging the challenge of aligning the film with the MCU’s broader narrative.

There is additional buzz around the project as Daniel Destin Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is reportedly in preliminary discussions to helm Spider-Man 4. This potential collaboration adds further excitement to what promises to be another significant installment in the MCU.

Holland, who has expressed a deep sense of responsibility toward the character of Spider-Man, reiterated his commitment to making sure the next movie honors the legacy of the franchise. He emphasized that he wouldn’t return to the role unless the story was truly worth telling: “I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.”
