Tom Holland’s Next Spider-Man Film Titled Brand New Day, Set for July 2026 Release

Director Destin Daniel Cretton teases a fresh, emotional reboot for Peter Parker as Sony officially announces Spider-Man: Brand New Day at CinemaCon

Washington [US], April 1: Sony Pictures has officially announced the next chapter in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man saga — titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” — with a global theatrical release date set for July 31, 2026.

The reveal was made during CinemaCon 2025, where director Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, took the stage to express his excitement about leading the new installment.

Calling himself a lifelong Spider-Man fan, Cretton said he’s particularly drawn to Peter Parker’s “humor and messy humanity,” promising audiences a version of the superhero they’ve never seen before. “It’s a ride that we haven’t really seen before,” he told the crowd.

A “Fresh Start” for Peter Parker

In a recorded video message played during the event, Tom Holland thanked fans for their continued support and teased the upcoming movie as “a fresh start” — a fitting sentiment given the film’s title and premise.

The name Brand New Day is inspired by a 2008 Marvel Comics storyline where, after a massive universe-resetting event, the world forgets Spider-Man’s true identity. This plot direction aligns seamlessly with the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which ended with the world erasing all memory of Peter Parker.

The MCU Connection Remains

The film’s script is being written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, the writing duo behind No Way Home. Brand New Day will remain within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to Sony’s ongoing collaboration with Disney and Marvel Studios.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the franchise aims to balance emotional depth with high-flying action, taking fans on a new journey as Peter Parker navigates a world where nobody remembers who he is — and possibly, where he begins again.

More details, including casting updates and teaser footage, are expected to be revealed in the coming months as production ramps up.
