The clip, shared on Instagram to mark International Men’s Day, features Mitra dancing in a white towel at Delhi’s iconic India Gate—a site deeply revered for its historical and cultural significance.

The footage, inspired by a famous towel dance from the Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, quickly amassed over 2 lakh views, drawing sharp criticism alongside its viral attention.

The Controversial Dance

In the video, Mitra is seen twirling in a towel in full view of passersby, including families and children. At one point, she partially removes the towel, further aggravating viewers who deemed the performance inappropriate for a public setting.

Sharing the video, Mitra captioned it:
“Happy International Men’s Day. May you all continue to inspire and motivate others with your courage, kindness, and empathy.”

However, what was seemingly intended as a lighthearted tribute to men has been widely condemned online. Many social media users accused Mitra of disrespecting the sanctity of India Gate, which honors the memory of fallen martyrs.

She previously stirred controversy during Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata, where she posed at a pandal wearing a thigh-high slit black gown.
