Travis Kelce Proposed Taylor Swift ‘Two Weeks Ago’, Reveals Father Kelce

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement was announced on Tuesday, but the NFL star’s father, Ed Kelce, has now revealed the proposal happened nearly two weeks ago in a romantic garden in Missouri.

August 27, 2025: While the world is buzzing about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement, which they announced in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, new details about the romantic proposal have emerged from an unexpected source: the groom’s father, Ed Kelce.

In an interview, Ed Kelce revealed that the proposal happened “oh, maybe two weeks ago, not quite two weeks ago.” He explained that his son had initially planned to delay the proposal to create a “big special event,” but he and Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, offered a different piece of advice.

“I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event,” Ed said.

According to Ed, Travis, 35, popped the question to Taylor, also 35, at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He took the pop superstar out for what she thought would be a glass of wine before dinner. “They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” Ed recalled.

The couple immediately shared the happy news with their families via FaceTime, calling Ed, their mothers, and Taylor’s parents. Ed was at a public Philadelphia Eagles practice session when he received the call. “As soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, and I knew what they were gonna say, and they, you know, let us know,” he said.

Ed Kelce shared that while no wedding date has been set, he has never seen his son “happier” than he is with Swift. He described them as “just two young people very much in love, cast in a spotlight that they really haven’t sought but kind of followed with their success in their respective fields.”
