Trump Blasts ABC For Restoring Jimmy Kimmel's Show, Threatens Legal Action
President Trump took to his social media platform to slam the network’s decision to bring back the late-night host, accusing the show of being politically biased. He claimed that the move was a “major Illegal Campaign Contribution” and that Kimmel was “not funny.”
September 24, 2025: On Wednesday, President Donald Trump went after the media again on his Truth Social platform. He added that ABC’s choice to bring back Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was politically biased and that he would sue them if they did. The show went off the air for over a week because of what Kimmel said regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Trump published a mad post in which he stated he couldn’t believe the network’s choice and that the White House had been told the show was “canceled” for good. He added that Kimmel’s show was “99% positive Democrat GARBAGE” and that the restoration was a “major Illegal Campaign Contribution.” He also hinted to a lawsuit by noting, “They gave me $16 million the last time I went after them.” This one sounds like it will make a lot more money.
The argument started when Kimmel said that some Trump supporters were trying to take advantage of Kirk’s death. Conservatives were upset by this, and Brendan Carr, the Trump-appointed chairman of the FCC, explicitly warned that “more work for the FCC ahead” if ABC didn’t do something.
The suspension started a national conversation on free speech. Hundreds of Hollywood heavyweights and the ACLU signed a statement calling the move a “dark moment” for the country. Kimmel was back on the air on Tuesday, even though there was a lot of anger and discussion. Some affiliate stations, on the other hand, have declared they won’t air the show.
