Duo Shares Difficulty in Booking Govinda and Why Certain Combinations Were Chosen for the Chat Show
Author Twinkle Khanna and actor Kajol, hosts of the Prime Video chat show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, discussed their process for selecting celebrity guest pairings in a conversation with The Nod Mag. The show has featured numerous stars, including Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Alia Bhatt.
The Planning Behind the Pairings
When asked about how they planned the guest list, Kajol revealed they had many more desired guests that they hoped to secure for a potential second season. Regarding the current season, she stated, “We wanted the pairings that people would want to see, and some that we found interesting.” She specifically highlighted the pairing of “Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor, which I thought was super interesting…”
Twinkle Khanna chimed in to mention one pair that was particularly challenging to secure: Govinda and Chunky Panday.
“We worked really hard to get Govinda on the show. We called him so many times, Kajol went to his house. He’s an icon. And with Chunky, that combination, that’s nostalgic,” Twinkle shared, underscoring the effort that went into featuring the iconic pairing.
The show premiered on September 25, with new episodes releasing every Thursday.
Govinda’s Candid Reflection on the Show
During his appearance on Two Much, Govinda spoke openly about the temporary standstill in his career and the articles speculating that his time was over. He philosophically noted that success requires the right environment:
“Aap kitna bhi acchi planning kar lijiye… par woh kamiyab tab hote hain jab ek mahoul taiyaar hota hain (No matter how good a planning you do… a film won’t be successful when the environment is right).”
He recounted that after reading articles suggesting, “Govinda gaya, Govinda gaya” (‘Govinda’s time is up’), he decided to start a film, Aa Gaya Hero. He then shared the story of how his meeting with David Dhawan led to the creation of the hit film Partner, starring Salman Khan.
