Varun Dhawan Celebrates T20 World Cup Win with Rohit Sharma: ‘Mumbai Cha Raja

Varun Dhawan recently celebrated India’s T20 World Cup victory by sharing a picture with the winning captain, Rohit Sharma, at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s sangeet ceremony on Friday night. Taking to Instagram, Varun posted a photo with the Indian skipper, captioning it, “Mumbai cha raja @rohitsharma45. Humble, passionate, funny, carrying the hopes of a billion with a smile. Was such a joy meeting the INDIAN captain last night and being able to spend little time with him and talk cricket.”

Several videos of Varun and Rohit’s interaction have surfaced on social media, capturing moments of Varun hugging Rohit and congratulating him on the T20 World Cup victory. Varun was also accompanied by his wife, Natasha Dalal.

India ended a 13-year ICC World Cup trophy drought with a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the final. Rohit Sharma shone throughout the tournament, scoring 257 runs in eight games at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of over 156. His best score was 92, and he registered three half-centuries, making him the second-highest run-getter of the competition.

Rohit Sharma retires from T20I cricket as a double T20 World Cup champion, having first won the title in 2007. Over his career, he has played 151 T20I matches, scoring 4,231 runs at an average of 32.05 with a strike rate of over 140. He holds the record for the most runs in the format, with five centuries and 32 fifties, his highest score being 121*.

The T20 World Cup-winning Indian team received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Delhi, where fans eagerly greeted their heroes. Following their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the team traveled to Mumbai for an open bus victory parade from Marine Drive to the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Thousands of fans gathered to cheer on the team, and the players were felicitated with a prize of Rs 125 crore by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The celebration at Wankhede included speeches, performances, and a victory lap to the tune of ‘Vande Mataram.’ The event was marked by the players’ joy and enthusiasm, showcasing the nation’s pride in their achievement.

Apart from Varun Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, numerous celebrities, including Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, and Hardik Pandya, attended Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s function at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai on Friday.

As part of the wedding celebrations, Mukesh and Nita Ambani organized a mass wedding for the underprivileged on July 2 at Swami Vivekanand Vidyamandir in Palghar. The wedding festivities are planned meticulously, adhering to traditional Hindu Vedic customs, with the main ceremonies set to begin on Friday, July 12. The celebrations will continue with Shubh Aashirwad on Saturday, July 13, and conclude with Mangal Utsav, the wedding reception, on Sunday, July 14.
