Actor Varun Dhawan has chosen humour over offence as memes around his distinctive one-sided smile went viral on social media. Instead of reacting defensively, the actor embraced the jokes and turned the trolling into a light-hearted moment during a recent Instagram Live session.
On Wednesday, Varun went live on Instagram while travelling to the Karwar Naval Base to promote his upcoming film Border 2. He was joined by singer Vishal Mishra during the journey. Acknowledging the online chatter, Varun told his fans, “I know my smile is trending,” before breaking into laughter.
Taking the joke a step further, Varun playfully asked Vishal to mimic the expression and even gave him instructions: “Pehle pura smile aur phir ek ko gira do,” drawing laughs from viewers.
Showing that he was unfazed by the memes, Varun added, “No, no, I’m happy. Pura Hindustan smile kar raha hai mere saath,” suggesting he was glad that people across the country were smiling along with him.
Earlier, Varun had also responded to criticism of his acting skills following the release of a song from Border 2. When a social media user questioned his acting, Varun replied in the comments section that the criticism only helped make the song a hit, adding that everyone was enjoying it by God’s grace.
Varun Dhawan’s Upcoming Film
Varun Dhawan will next be seen in the war drama Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, and serves as a sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 classic Border. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23.
