Varun Grover Slams Mumbai After Mulund Metro Collapse
Inquiry ordered as leaders react to Mumbai construction mishap
February 14, 2026: One person was killed and three others injured after a portion of a parapet from an under-construction metro bridge collapsed onto an auto rickshaw and a car on LBS Road in Mumbai’s Mulund on February 14. Officials identified the deceased as Ramdhan Yadav. Rajkumar Indrajeet Yadav, 45, is in critical condition in the ICU, while Mahendra Pratap Yadav, 52, and Deepa Ruhiya, 40, are reported to be stable. The incident occurred near a Metro Line stretch being developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
The MMRDA said an inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the collapse and review safety protocols and structural stability measures at the construction site. In its statement, the authority said relief operations were initiated immediately in coordination with civic and disaster management agencies, and that medical assistance is being extended to the injured. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed the accident “very unfortunate” and assured that medical expenses would be borne by the MMRDA and the state government, adding that strict action would follow if negligence is found.
The incident also drew political and public reactions. Lyricist Varun Grover criticised Mumbai’s infrastructure in a post on X, calling the city “the most corrupt” and alleging poor urban planning and disregard for human life. Mumbai Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi confirmed that four people were injured, one fatally, and said that senior leaders have taken cognisance of the matter, with a detailed probe expected.
