Venom: The Last Dance Outperforms Joker 2 at Indian Box Office, Scores Best Opening in Trilogy

October 26, 2024: Venom: The Last Dance, the final film in Tom Hardy’s popular superhero trilogy, has made a decent debut at the Indian box office, surpassing expectations. Despite mixed reviews, the film managed to open better than its predecessor and even outperformed Joker 2 on its first day. Here’s a look at how the film fared on its opening day.

Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom: The Last Dance hit theatres on October 24, 2024. The film arrived with considerable hype after Venom: Let There Be Carnage generated significant buzz, even though it struggled at the Indian box office in 2021. Fans had high hopes for a redemption arc with the third installment, and early numbers suggest the film might just deliver.

Venom 3 Box Office Collection (India) Venom: The Last Dance earned 5.50 crores on its opening day in India. Given that it was a regular working day, this was a solid start, and industry insiders are optimistic that the film will see increased occupancy during evening and night shows as the weekend approaches, setting it up for a strong Friday.

Interestingly, Venom 3 edged out Joker 2, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, which opened to 5.10 crores on day one in India.

Outperforms Previous Instalments Venom: The Last Dance has also surpassed its predecessors in terms of opening day collections, marking the best debut in the trilogy. Here’s how the three films compare:

  1. Venom (2018): 4.09 crores
  2. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021): 3.71 crores
  3. Venom: The Last Dance (2024): 5.50 crores

More About Venom: The Last Dance The film features a stellar supporting cast, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, Clark Backo, and Alanna Ubach. As the fifth instalment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, the film continues to explore the complex relationship between Eddie Brock and the symbiote, Venom.

While Tom Hardy and his co-stars have received praise for their performances, the film has faced criticism for its weak screenplay. Whether the film will manage to maintain its momentum over the weekend remains to be seen, but for now, it has made a positive start in India.
