
Veteran Ollywood Actor Uttam Mohanty Passes Away At 66
February 28, 2025: Odisha’s beloved actor Uttam Mohanty, who made an indelible mark in the Odia film industry, has passed away at the age of 66. The actor, who had been battling liver cirrhosis for some time, succumbed to his illness after undergoing prolonged treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
Born in 1958 in Baripada, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, Mohanty was deeply connected to the region’s culture and traditions. After graduating from MPC College, he ventured into acting and made his debut in the film Abhiman. This marked the beginning of an illustrious career that spanned decades, making him a household name in Odisha.
Earlier this year, Mohanty was admitted to Medanta Hospital after receiving initial treatment in Bhubaneswar. Due to his deteriorating health, he was airlifted to Delhi, where he spent 20 days under intensive care. His passing has left the entertainment industry in mourning, with tributes pouring in from fellow artists, senior politicians, and fans.
Sritam Das, Secretary of the Odisha Cine Artists’ Association, confirmed that Mohanty’s mortal remains will be brought to Bhubaneswar today, February 28, 2025, at around 11 am, where fans and admirers can pay their last respects to the legendary actor.
