The highly anticipated trailer for Vettaiyan was finally released, exciting fans of both Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. The movie is Rajinikanth’s 170th film, and it also marks Amitabh Bachchan’s debut in Tamil cinema.
Lyca Productions shared the trailer on social media with the caption, “The hunt begins!” The film is set to release worldwide on October 10, 2024, in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
The trailer opens with a powerful scene where a crowd protests over a brutal crime involving the rape and murder of a woman. Rajinikanth’s character, a police officer, advocates for extrajudicial killings, boldly stating, “It’s not wrong for the police to take the law into their own hands when injustice occurs.” In contrast, Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Sathyadev, offers a cautionary viewpoint, highlighting the risks of such actions with the line, “Justice delayed is justice denied; justice hurried is justice buried.” The film, therefore, sets up a strong ideological conflict between the two characters.
Alongside these two legends, Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati also play significant roles. The trailer hints at a gripping, action-packed narrative around the moral complexities of law enforcement. Anirudh Ravichander, the film’s music composer, adds his signature flair to the background score.
