Mumbai, November 13 – Film producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik are gearing up to deliver their biggest project yet with the announcement of Mahavatar, a cinematic epic inspired by Indian mythology. The film, set for release on Christmas 2026, stars Vicky Kaushal as the legendary warrior sage, Chiranjeevi Parashurama.
Following the success of their previous hit Stree 2, Vijan and Kaushik reunite to bring Mahavatar, a tale deeply rooted in ancient Indian lore, to the big screen. The first-look poster for Mahavatar, released on November 13, reveals Kaushal in character, embodying the fierce and wise Parashurama, one of Hindu mythology’s revered immortals.
Vicky Kaushal shared the poster on Instagram, writing, “Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma! Vicky Kaushal stars as Chiranjeevi Parashurama in #Mahavatar, directed by Amar Kaushik. Coming to cinemas – Christmas 2026!”
In Mahavatar, Kaushal takes on the role of Parashurama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu known for his mission to rid the world of corrupt rulers and defend dharma, or justice. Parashurama’s legend is deeply embedded in Hindu epics such as the Mahabharata and Ramayana, where he is celebrated for his unwavering commitment to righteousness.
The screenplay, crafted by Niren Bhatt and produced by Maddock Films, promises to bring the timeless figure of Parashurama to life in what could be a defining role for Vicky Kaushal.
Mahavatar is anticipated to be a must-watch experience, hitting cinemas in December 2026.
