Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava Inches Closer to ₹600 Cr, Set to Dethrone Stree 2 as 7th Biggest Indian Film
Mumbai, April 6 – Vicky Kaushal’s magnum opus Chhaava is on the cusp of rewriting Indian box office history. After 52 days in cinemas, the Laxman Utekar directorial has grossed a staggering ₹597.15 crore, falling just ₹84 lakh short of surpassing Stree 2 (₹597.99 crore) to become the 7th highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

The historical epic, centered on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has resonated deeply with audiences, particularly in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and North India, where regional pride and storytelling have struck a chord. Vicky Kaushal’s intense and layered performance has drawn widespread acclaim and is being hailed as the finest of his career.
While Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 enjoyed massive popularity with its horror-comedy mix and tight narrative, Chhaava has carved its success on the back of historical gravitas, visual grandeur, and repeat family viewership. The film faced strong competition from Sikandar and L2: Empuraan, yet has managed to outlast them in terms of sustained audience interest.
Trade analysts believe that with the film still attracting families and students during weekends, Chhaava is poised to cross ₹600 crore soon and cement its place in Indian cinema’s record books.
