This development follows PM Modi’s recent praise of Chhaava at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, where he acknowledged the contribution of Marathi and Hindi cinema to Indian culture and remarked, “Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai.”
In response, Vicky Kaushal took to Instagram to share his gratitude:
“Honoured beyond words! Grateful to Hon. PM Narendra Modi ji. #Chhaava,” he wrote.
His co-star Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Yesubai, also expressed her appreciation via Instagram Stories.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava tells the gripping story of Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and his unwavering courage in defending his faith and land. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Diana Penty, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Ashutosh Rana.
Released on February 14, 2025, the film has been both a critical and commercial success, recently becoming the subject of a piracy investigation. Mumbai Police registered an FIR after 1,818 illegal links distributing the film were flagged.
