Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Beats Jigra on Opening Day Amid Dussehra Clash

October 12, 2024: The much-anticipated mini-clash at the box office this Dussehra between two Bollywood films was set for an exciting start. On one side, Vasan Bala’s action-packed Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, and on the other, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, a slapstick comedy led by Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. Despite Jigra carrying greater star power, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has emerged as the early victor, thanks to its crowd-pleasing genre.

Box Office Collection: Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video collected a respectable ₹5 crore net in India on its opening day, surpassing Jigra, which earned ₹4.25 crore. While this gives the comedy a slight advantage, its wider release and higher screen count contribute to the numbers, meaning this ‘victory’ should be viewed with some caution.

Occupancy rates for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video were recorded at 17% during the day, improving to 32% for evening shows, indicating positive momentum for the weekend. With the Dussehra holiday boosting footfall on Saturday, trade experts see promise for the film’s box office performance over the weekend.

About the Film: Set in a small town in 1990s’ India, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video follows the comedic misadventures of a newlywed couple, played by Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, who face chaos when a sex tape they made on their wedding night goes missing. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the film also features an ensemble cast including Vijay Raaz, Archana Puran Singh, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania, and Ashwini Kalsekar, with Mallika Sherawat making a comeback to the screen. The film has garnered mixed reviews from critics but promises to attract viewers with its humorous premise.
