Magizh Thirumeni's adaptation of Breakdown opens strong but sees a significant dip on its second day.
February 8, 2025: The much-anticipated Tamil film Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and starring Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan, hit theatres on Thursday, marking an exciting debut. Despite a promising start, the film witnessed a notable decline in collections on its second day. According to Sacnilk, Vidaamuyarchi brought in approximately ₹32.12 crore net in India by day two.

Box Office Performance
The action-packed thriller earned ₹26 crore net on its opening day, with ₹25.5 crore coming from the Tamil version and ₹0.5 crore from its Telugu-dubbed release, Pattudala. However, day two saw collections drop sharply to ₹6.12 crore, bringing the total to ₹32.12 crore net. The film reported an occupancy rate of 21.48% in the morning shows, 31.44% in the afternoon, and 37.25% in the evening. This follows a similar pattern to Ajith’s 2023 release, Thunivu, which opened at ₹24.4 crore net.

Director Vignesh Shivan Praises the Film
Filmmaker Vignesh Shivan took to social media to share his thoughts on Vidaamuyarchi. Applauding Ajith Kumar’s stellar performance, he wrote, “#vidaamuyarchi is such an intense thriller! Like solving a puzzle, it keeps you hooked from start to finish! AK sir’s charisma, his realistic action sequences, and emotional depth carry the entire film. The scintillating score by @anirudhofficial is the cherry on top!”
