The action-packed thriller earned ₹26 crore net on its opening day, with ₹25.5 crore coming from the Tamil version and ₹0.5 crore from its Telugu-dubbed release, Pattudala. However, day two saw collections drop sharply to ₹6.12 crore, bringing the total to ₹32.12 crore net. The film reported an occupancy rate of 21.48% in the morning shows, 31.44% in the afternoon, and 37.25% in the evening. This follows a similar pattern to Ajith’s 2023 release, Thunivu, which opened at ₹24.4 crore net.

Filmmaker Vignesh Shivan took to social media to share his thoughts on Vidaamuyarchi. Applauding Ajith Kumar’s stellar performance, he wrote, “#vidaamuyarchi is such an intense thriller! Like solving a puzzle, it keeps you hooked from start to finish! AK sir’s charisma, his realistic action sequences, and emotional depth carry the entire film. The scintillating score by @anirudhofficial is the cherry on top!”

Vidaamuyarchi, an adaptation of the 1997 Hollywood movie Breakdown, revolves around a man’s desperate rescue mission after his wife is abducted by a dangerous group in Azerbaijan. With its gripping narrative, high-octane action, and emotional depth, the movie has been described as a treat for action-thriller enthusiasts.
While Vidaamuyarchi’s second-day drop raises questions about its box office sustainability, positive reviews and word-of-mouth could help it regain momentum over the weekend.
