In a recent interview with Deadline (Cannes edition), Vidya revealed that she is open to exploring global opportunities, citing inspiration from international stars like Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, and Reese Witherspoon.

When asked about the kind of roles she is drawn to, Vidya shared, “I’d love to play (a character like) the therapist in Adolescence. That’s on the top of my mind at this point. I would love to do comedy. I absolutely loved Kate Winslet in The Regime. I also love the work Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are doing.”

“In each of these films, there was an opportunity for me to do something different as an actor. They were well fleshed-out characters, and yet they were great scripts and very engaging, entertaining films,” she said.

Vidya continues to be a strong advocate for women-centric roles in Indian cinema, consistently choosing projects that highlight complex female protagonists.

Recent Projects:
Vidya was last seen in the Diwali blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, where she starred alongside Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. The film emerged as a box-office success and marked her return to the iconic franchise.

Prior to that, she featured in the romantic comedy Do Aur Do Pyaar, opposite Pratik Gandhi, with Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy rounding out the cast. Directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, the film explored the intricacies of modern relationships with a blend of humour and heart.

With her sights set on the global stage, Vidya Balan continues to evolve as an actor while staying true to her roots as one of Bollywood’s most compelling performers.
