Vidya Balan Issues Strong Warning Against Deepfake Video Circulating Online

March 2, 2025: Actress Vidya Balan has raised her voice against the growing misuse of artificial intelligence after discovering that a deepfake video featuring her has gone viral on social media. The actress, known for her roles in films like Kahaani, took to Instagram to address the situation and alert her fans about the AI-generated content.

In her post, Vidya shared the deepfake video and clarified that it was completely manipulated. She said, “There are multiple videos currently circulating on social media and WhatsApp, which appear to feature me. However, I want to clarify that the videos are AI-generated and inauthentic.”

The actress made it clear that she had no involvement in the creation or distribution of the video and strongly condemned its content. She urged her followers to be vigilant and cautious when dealing with such content, emphasizing that it did not reflect her views or work in any way.

Vidya also appealed to her fans to verify any information before sharing it, pointing out the dangers of misleading AI-generated videos. “Any claims made in the videos should not be attributed to me, as it does not reflect my views or work. I urge everyone to verify information before sharing and be cautious of misleading AI-generated content,” she wrote.

Deepfake technology, which has the ability to create highly realistic yet entirely fabricated videos, has become a growing concern in recent years. Several other Indian celebrities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, and Ranveer Singh, have also fallen victim to such manipulations.

On the professional front, Vidya Balan was last seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, where she shared screen space with Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. Released during Diwali last year, the film became a major box-office hit.

Vidya’s clear stance against the misuse of AI-generated content serves as a reminder of the growing responsibility for both celebrities and the public to be cautious in this age of digital manipulation.
