Actor announces education support for government school students during village visit
March 3, 2026: Actor Vijay Deverakonda has introduced a scholarship initiative for students of Classes 9 and 10 studying in government schools across Telangana. He made the announcement during a visit to his native village Thummanapeta, accompanied by his wife Rashmika Mandanna and family members for a housewarming ceremony and puja at their newly built home. The initiative, launched through his charitable trust, will benefit students from 44 government schools in the Achampet Division.
In a video that has since gone viral, Vijay revealed that students securing first and second rank in their respective schools would receive scholarships to ease financial pressure and help them complete their basic education. Rashmika was seen applauding the announcement, while Vijay’s mother appeared visibly emotional as the gathered crowd cheered the decision. The actor also assured villagers that he would visit his hometown more frequently in the future.
The visit comes shortly after Vijay and Rashmika tied the knot in a traditional South Indian ceremony held in Udaipur on February 26, attended by close friends and family. The couple, who had kept their relationship private for years, confirmed their marriage on social media and are now set to host a grand reception in Hyderabad on March 4.
