Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his daughter Krishna Bhatt have been booked by the Mumbai Police for allegedly defrauding a Pune-based film professional of ₹13.50 crore.

The case, registered on January 23, 2026, has sparked significant attention as it marks the second major fraud allegation against the director in less than two months.

The Current Case: ₹13.50 Crore Scam

The FIR was lodged at the Versova Police Station following a complaint by Shivraj Pushkaraj Khavade, a film industry professional from Pune.

  • The Allegation: Khavade claims that between June 2021 and January 2026, the father-daughter duo lured him into a deal for film distribution rights.
  • The Deception: Despite collecting ₹13.50 crore in various installments at their Andheri West residence, the promised projects never materialized, and the funds were reportedly neither invested nor returned.
  • Legal Action: The case has been registered under Section 420 (Cheating) of the IPC. Due to the high value of the fraud, it has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for a specialized probe.

Mounting Legal Troubles

This fresh FIR comes at a time when Vikram Bhatt is already embroiled in a separate high-profile legal battle:

  • The Udaipur Case: In December 2025, Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari, were arrested by the Rajasthan Police for an alleged ₹30 crore fraud.
  • The Victim: Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF, accused Bhatt of siphoning funds meant for a biopic on Murdia’s late wife.
  • Current Status: Reports indicate that Vikram Bhatt has been in judicial custody in Udaipur, and the Rajasthan High Court recently rejected his plea to quash the FIR in that matter.

Who is Krishna Bhatt?

Krishna Bhatt, who is also named in the new FIR, is an established director herself. She made her theatrical debut with 1920: Horrors of the Heart (2023) and has helmed web series like Maya 2. Her involvement in this case raises questions about the financial dealings of their family production house, VSB LLP.
