Vikrant Massey Calls Godhra Train Incident India's '9/11' in Upcoming Film The Sabarmati Report
November 7, 2024: In his upcoming film The Sabarmati Report, Vikrant Massey portrays a Hindi journalist determined to uncover the truth about the 2002 Godhra train burning incident. Drawing a stark comparison, Massey stated that the tragic event, in which the S6 coach of the Sabarmati Express was set ablaze near Godhra railway station in Gujarat, is akin to the 9/11 attacks that shook the United States in 2001.
During the trailer launch in Mumbai, Massey emphasised the importance of bringing this story to light, noting that many young people today are unfamiliar with the history and impact of the incident. “This Sabarmati Express incident is our 9/11,” he remarked. “Many have reported on Godhra, but few know the full story of the Sabarmati Express.” He added that producer Ektaa Kapoor was committed to the project despite commercial pressures, saying, “We’re often caught up in box office numbers, but Ektaa was determined to make this film regardless.”
