Vikrant Massey’s ’12th Fail’ Wows at Shanghai International Film Festival

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film ’12th Fail,’ featuring Vikrant Massey in the lead role, has been receiving widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics. The film, which explores the arduous journey of students preparing for the UPSC entrance exam, has now garnered international attention with its screening at the prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival.

Vikrant Massey expressed his excitement and gratitude about the screening experience. “My experience at the Shanghai International Film Festival was truly exceptional. I am grateful to the organisers for their warm hospitality. The energy inside the cinema hall, with a packed audience reacting to the film, was unforgettable,” he shared. He was particularly touched by meeting Chinese fans who spoke Hindi. “While I missed Vidhu Vinod Chopra, I am confident that our official release in China will give us more time to interact with the Chinese audiences. I believe ’12th Fail’ has tremendous potential for success here,” he added.

The film has already been highly praised within India, winning several accolades at the 69th Filmfare Awards, including Best Director for Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Best Actor (Critics) for Vikrant Massey, and Best Film. ’12th Fail’ has also received endorsements from notable Bollywood stars such as Kamal Haasan, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Rishabh Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor.

Vikrant Massey continues to receive acclaim for his work, including his performance in the comedy-thriller ‘Blackout.’ Additionally, he is set to star in ‘The Sabarmati Report’ alongside Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra. In this film, Vikrant plays Samar Kumar, a vernacular journalist who teams up with fellow reporters portrayed by Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra. Directed by Ranjan Chandel and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan, ‘The Sabarmati Report’ was initially scheduled for a May release but will now hit theaters in August 2024.
