Vir Das online criticism as Coldplay wraps up their India tour with unforgettable performances and heartfelt tributes.

Mumbai, January 28: Comedian and actor Vir Das has addressed online criticism targeting concertgoers who attended Coldplay’s India tour without knowing the band’s songs.

In response to posts lamenting the presence of such attendees, Das took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to call out what he described as “asinine” complaints.

“The number of asinine ‘bro, they don’t even know any Coldplay songs, they just showed up’ posts I have seen. So? Good. Now they do. It’s lights, music, dancing, and fun. Everyone’s entitled to enjoy. You don’t have the monopoly on fun just because you sobbed to ‘Yellow’ one time,” Das wrote, defending inclusivity in enjoying music.

Coldplay’s Electrifying India Tour Breaks Records

Coldplay performed five concerts in India, including three in Mumbai (January 18, 19, and 21) and two in Ahmedabad (January 25 and 26). Their Republic Day concert on January 26 set records with a staggering 1.34 lakh attendees, marking it as the band’s largest show in the country.

Patriotic Tributes and Special Moments

Coldplay’s Republic Day concert featured a heartfelt tribute to India. Frontman Chris Martin serenaded the crowd with renditions of “Vande Mataram” and “Maa Tujhhe Salaam”, eliciting thunderous applause and cheers.

Martin concluded the tribute with, “Salute to Mother India,” and extended Republic Day wishes to all present.

In a lighter moment, Martin dedicated a song to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, humorously acknowledging the bowler’s prowess. “O Jasprit Bumrah, my beautiful brother. The best bowler in the whole of cricket. We did not enjoy watching you destroy England, wicket after wicket,” he joked, drawing laughter and cheers from the audience.
