In a shocking turn of events, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has officially claimed that Monalisa, the viral “Kumbh Girl,” is a minor. Monalisa made headlines last month following her marriage to her boyfriend, Farman Khan, in Kerala. However, a detailed investigation into her age has led to the registration of an FIR against Khan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The NCST investigation, which spanned multiple states, reportedly confirmed that Monalisa belongs to the Pardhi tribal community and is currently 16 years old. According to records retrieved from the Government Medical Hospital in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, the girl was born on December 30, 2009. This evidence suggests that at the time of her wedding on March 11, 2026, she had not reached the legal age of marriage.
The marriage initially took place at the Arumanoor Temple in Poovar, Kerala, where the temple administration and the local village panchayat office registered the union based on age criteria provided at the time. However, following the NCST’s findings, the Maheshwar police station in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district has invoked multiple charges against Farman Khan. In addition to the POCSO Act, he faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Previously, the couple had held a press conference denying allegations that Monalisa was a minor, claiming they married out of love to escape a forced marriage within her family. While the duo has gained significant social media attention over the “Love Jihad” debates surrounding their union, they have yet to issue a statement regarding the official age findings or the criminal proceedings.
