Vivek Oberoi Breaks Silence On Cousin Akshay’s ‘No Relationship’ Comment

September 12, 2025: Bollywood cousins Vivek Oberoi and Akshay Oberoi are having a rare public argument after Vivek denied Akshay’s recent claims that their family connections are strained.

In an interview, Akshay, the nephew of legendary actor Suresh Oberoi, said that he had “no real relationship” with Vivek and never utilized his name to get forward in the business. “I don’t say it with pride; I say it with sadness that there was no real relationship,” Akshay stated.

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Vivek Oberoi talked about what his cousin said and said that he had asked Akshay about the interview himself. “He said, ‘No, it’s been misinterpreted,’ but it’s best that he speaks for himself,” Vivek added, adding that he loves Akshay and is proud of what he has done.

Vivek went on to say that their family has “great memories of growing up together” and that they go to each other’s birthdays and other events like Diwali all the time. Even if the public didn’t agree, both stars were able to find common ground in their own paths in Bollywood. Vivek said he was proud that Akshay, like him, built his career on “pure merit” and didn’t rely on family connections. “He has made his path his own way, just like I’m proud that I did my own way too,” Vivek remarked.

Akshay Oberoi, who has hinted at a family conflict because of “Punjabi ego clashes,” hasn’t responded to Vivek’s allegation that his first statement was “misunderstood.” The public conversation has added a new level to the often-discussed subject of nepotism and familial dynamics in the movie business.
